Local Sales and Marketing Representative

My name is Julie Florence and I am the local sales and marketing representative for New Horizons Villas in Hervey Bay.

I worked in the real estate industry for 15 years and my family were based in a coastal town of Victor Harbor in South Australia. During those years I was a member of school and community organisations. When my children joined “little nippers” I became a volunteer member of our local Surf Life Saving Club. In later years, I joined Rotary and I assisted in many local fund raising events. I feel that volunteering is a great way to give back to my community.

My association with the owners of New Horizons Villas goes back almost 20 years when I commenced working as the owner’s representative in the first South Australian village in the coastal town of Goolwa. The company in those days managed villages throughout Australia and in 2002 I was promoted to a role of training local sales and marketing consultants in SA, NSW, Qld and Victoria. I soon moved interstate and based myself in Brisbane to be closer to our head office. In 2003 I was involved with the opening of the company’s new village in Hervey Bay. (Now New Horizons Villas). I loved the relaxed friendly lifestyle of Hervey Bay, the beach and the warm climate. I felt right at home and within 2 years I became a resident of Hervey Bay and I still love it here.

Over the years, I have enjoyed working from time to time with the owners of New Horizons Villas. These days New Horizons is a small family-owned company with only 2 villages. After knowing the owners John & Tony for over 18 years, I feel that I am part of their family. I consider myself fortunate to be given the opportunity to be appointed as their local representative in Hervey Bay. I believe that my experience and knowledge helps me to understand the needs of seniors in our community. New Horizons Villas Hervey Bay has a real sense of community. Residents settle into their new home easily with the help of our experienced on-site managers Noel & Maureen O’Neill. It’s great to be working with them again.

I am lucky that my family has followed me to Hervey Bay and in my spare time I love to spend time with my family, especially my 4year old granddaughter. I’m also a keen cyclist and I enjoy cycling on rail trails in New Zealand and Australia.

Onsite Managers

We have been involved in Aged Care for 16yrs. Initially, Maureen worked on the Sunshine Coast with a specialised team providing care to enable residents to live well in a safe and friendly environment with the best possible care.

We worked to create relationships that set us apart from other facilities at the time. The residents, their family and friends from many walks of life were all considered part of the same community along with our staff.

As residents health declined we assisted with dressing, personal hygiene, mobility, and physical therapy, eating and drinking, taking care to create meals that were both nutritious and appropriate for those with special dietary needs.

The beautiful weather and relaxed lifestyle in Hervey Bay was the initial drawcard to New Horizons where we met some interesting seniors and have been living here ever since.

Drawing from our previous work experience we now find ourselves as onsite Managers at New Horizons for the last 9yrs

  • Activities and entertainment which include music, mahjong, card games, bingo, scrabble, foot massage, movies & happy hours, birthday celebrations, BBQ’s, shopping, hydrotherapy pool, chair exercises & tai chi. These are just some of the activities that we encourage our residents to become involved in.

Noel continues to oversee the village maintenance and our beautiful gardens whilst attending resident needs and commuting residents to shopping & appointments.
